Quick answer: Your chance of winning a PCSO Lotto jackpot with one ticket is 1 in 5,245,786 for Lotto 6/42, 1 in 8,145,060 for Mega Lotto 6/45, 1 in 13,983,816 for Super Lotto 6/49, 1 in 28,989,675 for Grand Lotto 6/55 and 1 in 40,475,358 for Ultra Lotto 6/58. The bigger the number pool, the harder the jackpot, which is why the jackpots of the larger games grow so large.
Note: PCSO Lotto is the government-run lottery of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. Buy tickets only through PCSO’s authorised outlets and channels, and check prizes, ticket prices, draw days and age rules at pcso.gov.ph.
How a 6/N Lotto Works
All five PCSO Lotto games work the same way. You pick six different numbers from a pool, for example 1 to 42 in Lotto 6/42. In the draw, six numbers come out. If all six of yours match, in any order, you share the jackpot. Smaller prizes are paid for matching fewer numbers, as set out in PCSO’s prize rules for each game.
Because the order does not matter, the number of possible tickets is a “combination”, written C(N,6). It counts how many different groups of six numbers can be made from N numbers. That count is your jackpot odds with one ticket.
Jackpot Odds for Every PCSO Lotto Game
| Game | Numbers | Possible combinations | Jackpot odds per ticket |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lotto | 6/42 | 5,245,786 | 1 in 5,245,786 |
| Mega Lotto | 6/45 | 8,145,060 | 1 in 8,145,060 |
| Super Lotto | 6/49 | 13,983,816 | 1 in 13,983,816 |
| Grand Lotto | 6/55 | 28,989,675 | 1 in 28,989,675 |
| Ultra Lotto | 6/58 | 40,475,358 | 1 in 40,475,358 |
Notice how fast the odds grow. Adding 16 numbers to the pool, from 42 to 58, makes the jackpot almost eight times harder to win.
Odds of Matching 5, 4 or 3 Numbers
Most prizes are won by matching fewer than six numbers. These are our own calculations from the same combination maths. Which of these matches actually pay, and how much, depends on PCSO’s prize table for each game, so check that before you rely on any of them.
| Game | Match 5 | Match 4 | Match 3 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6/42 | 1 in 24,286 | 1 in 555 | 1 in 37 |
| 6/45 | 1 in 34,808 | 1 in 733 | 1 in 45 |
| 6/49 | 1 in 54,201 | 1 in 1,032 | 1 in 57 |
| 6/55 | 1 in 98,604 | 1 in 1,643 | 1 in 79 |
| 6/58 | 1 in 129,729 | 1 in 2,035 | 1 in 92 |
What 1 in 40 Million Actually Means
Big numbers are hard to picture. Here are a few ways to make them real:
- If a 6/58 game were drawn three times a week and you bought one ticket for every draw, you would expect to wait around 259,000 years, on average, for a jackpot.
- Buying 100 different tickets for one draw improves your jackpot odds to about 1 in 404,754. Your chance is still well below 0.001%.
- Covering every Lotto 6/42 combination would take more than five million tickets.
None of this means nobody wins. People do, because millions of tickets are sold. It means any single ticket is very unlikely to be the one.
Do Lucky Numbers or Hot Numbers Help?
No. Every combination has exactly the same chance in each draw, including 1-2-3-4-5-6. The machine does not remember which numbers came out last week, so “hot” and “cold” numbers describe the past, not the future. This is the same mistake as reading patterns into casino results.
There is one thing choice can affect: how many people you might share a jackpot with. Birthdays cover only 1 to 31, so combinations made entirely of birthday numbers are popular. If you win with a popular combination, you are more likely to split the prize. Picking less common numbers does not raise your chance of winning, but it can raise your share if you do.
Lotto vs Online Casino Games
Lotto is a very different bet from a slot or a card game. Casino games pay back most of what is wagered over time, and the house keeps a few percent. A lottery is built to raise money: a large share of ticket sales goes to charity programmes and costs rather than to prizes, so the expected return per peso is lower. PCSO publishes how its funds are used; read the figures on its own site rather than quoted numbers elsewhere. If you want to compare casino games on the same basis, our guide to RTP and house edge explains the measure.
Be careful with websites and Facebook pages that offer to “buy PCSO tickets for you” or sell “winning number” systems. Only use PCSO’s official channels. Our guide to spotting fake apps and phishing sites lists the warning signs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which PCSO Lotto game has the best odds?
Lotto 6/42, with jackpot odds of 1 in 5,245,786. It has the smallest number pool, so it also tends to have the smallest jackpots.
What are the odds of winning Ultra Lotto 6/58?
1 in 40,475,358 per ticket for the jackpot, because there are 40,475,358 ways to choose six numbers from 58.
Does buying more tickets help?
Each different ticket adds one more combination, so ten tickets give ten times the odds of one. The odds stay extremely long, and the cost rises in step.
Are some numbers drawn more often?
Over a short history some numbers will appear more often by chance. That does not make them more likely in future draws.
Final Thoughts
PCSO Lotto is a legal, government-run game, and buying a ticket for fun is fine. Just know what you are buying: a very small chance at a very large prize. Spend only money you would happily spend on entertainment, check results and prizes at pcso.gov.ph, and never let a “system” talk you into buying more tickets than you planned.
