How Tongits rounds are scored

A Tongits round ends in one of three ways: a player lays down every card (a "tongits"), a player calls a draw and has the lowest hand, or the deck runs out and the lowest hand wins. The score keeper uses the simple system many tables play: every loser gives the winner a set number of points, a tongits win is worth extra, and a "burned" player, one who never laid down a meld, gives extra too.

With the default settings (1 point per loser, +2 extra for a tongits so it pays 3 in total, and +1 from a burned player), a tongits win against one burned and one unburned opponent scores the winner 3 + 4 = 7 points. Bonuses such as aces or a hidden four of a kind go in the "Other bonuses" box for that round. Our guide to Tongits house rules explains the common values and the rules to agree before you play. Full rules are in our guide on how to play Tongits.

How Pusoy Dos rounds are scored

The most common method charges every losing player one point for each card still in their hand when someone goes out, with two penalty tiers on top:

Cards leftPoints given to the winnerExample
1 to 91 per card4 cards = 4 points
10 to 12Double11 cards = 22 points
All 13 (never played)Triple (some tables quadruple)13 cards = 39 points

You can switch off the double tier or change the 13-card multiplier in the scoring rules. For card ranking and strategy, see how to play Pusoy Dos.

Frequently asked questions

How many players does the score keeper support?

Tongits is set up for its usual three players. Pusoy Dos works for two, three or four players.

Will I lose the scores if I close the page?

No. The sheet is saved in your phone's browser until you tap "New game". It is not saved if you use a private or incognito tab, or if you clear your browser data.

What does "burned" mean in Tongits?

A player is burned (sunog) when the round ends and they have not laid down a single meld. Most tables make a burned player give extra points to the winner.

Can I use it for other card games?

It is built for Tongits and Pusoy Dos. For other Filipino card games, see our guides to Lucky 9, Pusoy (Chinese poker) and Panguingue.

Does it cost anything or need an account?

No. It is free, needs no sign-up and works offline once the page has loaded.

Final thoughts

A clear score sheet ends most arguments at the table before they start. Agree on the scoring rules first, add every round as it ends, and keep the game about fun and bragging rights, not money.
